Soothing Sunday breeze
Filled the moment of silence
Right after that question.
Oh how that one line
Set his sense of surety ablaze.
Cold feet, is what people call it
But he knew it just wasn’t it
There they stood
On the altar
Bride-to- be smiling
Through her veil
Her eyes spoke what
Any bride would
“I want to spend the rest
Of my life with you”
But him, is this what
He truly wanted?
This seemingly eternal union
Just a snare or a true reverie?
He could feel the eyes
of the guests on them,
looking forward to
the expected.
Listen to your heart and
They’d call you fanciful
Listen to your head and
They’d call you hard nosed
Either way they’d
call you something
But her , she yearned for
This dreamy moment
From the time he met her
Its all that glowed in her eyes
To do right by her
Is what he always wanted
If this was the right, then..
“I do” he answered.
